If Yunni buying a rifle even is an option, I do have a question, too: How does that interstellar trade work in the first place? Yunni essentially escaped from an isolated single-species population with no preparation for interstellar travel. Automated translators pre-loaded with even the rarest languages can explain the communication issues away, but why would he be carrying a fully convertible currency?
Well, we did see the shopkeeper on the space station in chapter 2 say that he’d never refuse Aurik currency. Obviously, some shops will accept their money. Space stations and marketplaces with a wide variety of clientele will allow payments to be made in most known currencies. Though Yunni would probably be out of luck in other single-species areas (the Vespin homeworld, for example).
wait then how did she buy all the vespin tourist trinkets? or are all of those basically in the grab bag like free fridge magnets and pens, in this case free prayer flag, jar of vespin pheromones with wood diffusers and mats of prayer / contemplation, I’m assuming, how to’s with tassels? i suspect the round glass globe and the herbs are from the drid. and if she doesn’t leave Rerks shop with a rifle keychain with their number printed on it i will be surprised.
